All Things Wyoming
This page will remain as a memorial to a great man, a truly great Senator, Craig (Lyle) Thomas. He was a friend to all things Wyoming. In the weeks prior to his death, Thomas had announced plans to introduce legislation that would allow energy leases already held to be bought back, as well as, legislation that would have prevented any future leases in the Wyoming Range. Senator Craig Thomas passed on June 4, 2007. He was 74.
"Craig died as he lived, with his spurs on, fighting for Wyoming."
Senator Michael Enzi

Senator Craig Thomas will be sadly missed by all.
Senator Craig Thomas continues to support the Wyoming Range, showing a deeper understanding of what this pristine area means to Wyoming.
Wyoming is the home of two outstanding national treasures, namely Yellowstone and Grand Teton. As Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee’s Subcommittee on Parks, Historic Preservation and Recreation, Senator Thomas has worked to protect these areas so that they can be enjoyed by folks long into the future.
Here, Senator Craig Thomas addresses a crowd at the groundbreaking ceremony for the visitor center in Grand Teton National Park.
Senator Thomas Statements on Drilling in the Wyoming Range:
"Frankly, even though it’s been leased, my general feeling is we shouldn’t be drilling in national forests. . . They’re there for special reasons and I don’t think we should diminish those reasons."
"I would hope they would come to the conclusion in this instance it’s not necessary to drill in this area."
"Even if you do it (drilling) well, you’re changing the character of these lands."

Sportsmen for the Wyoming Range appreciate all that Senator Thomas has done to promote the conservation of the Wyoming Range from his position in Washington.
