Maps and Charts - The Wyoming Range

The Wyoming Range is a little-known chain of peaks rising from the foothills and vast sagebrush plains of western Wyoming to more than 11,000 feet. These mountains—which include the Salt River Range—are a surprise, a shadowy silhouette on the horizon tucked away from major highways. Those who venture here discover creeks plunging over spectacular falls, pristine alpine lakes, open meadows and rust-colored peaks rising to into the pale blue Wyoming sky. This is a sportsman’s heaven, with top quality big game and upland bird hunting, as well as great fishing. In 2005, for example, elk hunters spent $2.5 million, mule deer hunters spent $1.2 million and moose hunters spent $219,000 in the range and its communities.
